Sat Nam everyone!
It’s me again with the latest news. As I’ve said before I’m a “Hinz 57 as far as my spirituality is concerned. I’m a 7th Day Adventist & I practice Kundalini Yoga & Meditation. I’ve also been wearing a turban 4 the past few weeks & getting used to it. Heck I’ve even wore it to church & got a lot of positive feedback for it. At first people wondered about it & asked me about it. But when I explained what it was all about they were supportive. So you guys will see me with a different turban I made from some material that my friend Teri let me test out. That’s the first pic.
I also have an altar where I do my Sadhana. The first pic is just that. The other 2 pics my 4 year old cat Sunny decided that he wanted 2 be worshiped I guess so he just jumped on top of it & then I took pictures of him while he was up there. I hope that all of you will get a big kick out of it. Until next time Sat Nam,

My Challenges of Spirituality

Sat Nam Everybody!
Today I want to talk about my spiritual challenges & how my own spiritual practice has evolved & changed over the years.
I was raised in Christian circles as long as I can remember. I was christened Roman Catholic as a baby (although I never actually followed it). Then when I was about 11 O went to a Baptist church for Sunday school for a few years. & then I was in other Christian circles when I got older. Everything from the Evangelical Free church to the Assembly of God churches when I grew up. However, they all seemed to be very rigid in one way or another. I was under the impression that if I did all the “right things” i.e. listened to the right music, read my Bible,, prayed a lot I’d be saved. Give me a break! I’m a very firm believer in the power of prayer. However, I’ve outgrown the need to do all that extra busywork. I’d rather meditate.
Then several years ago I became curious about the Jewish roots of my faith so I did some research & immersed myself in the music & culture. At about that time I was asking all kinds of questions about the Sabbath & how it got changed to Sunday. Well I had a couple neighbors who lived in back of me who are 7th Day Adventists. They explained that part to me as well as why they don’t believe in eating anything that was “unclean” e.g.pork, shellfish,& that’s also what my Jewish brothers & sisters believe. So in 2003 I was baptized into the 7th Day Adventist church. However, I still was under the impression that if you did everything “right” you would be saved. At the same time I began studying other religious beliefs i.e. Native American spirituality, Buddhism, & in 2006 I started practicing & studying Kundalini Yoga & Meditation & just heard of Sikhism for the first time. Now I’m studying that to see what I can learn from that culture. So far I’ve managed to learn many different lessens from every religion I’ve studied about. For example from the Buddhists I’ve learned about being mindful & in the here & now. From the Jewish & 7th Day Adventists I’ve learned about the importance of the weekly Sabbath & not eating anything unclean, From the Native Americans I got what it means to be respectful of nature, & I’m still learning many different things from Kundalini Yoga & Meditation as well as from the Sikhs. So that’s still a work in progress.
What are my challenges now? Well the first one is my mom. She’s having a hard time understanding why I’ve chosen to wear a turban. I wonder if she thinks that I’m making fun of other peoples’ beliefs (which I’m not. I just want to experiment with it. & she’s very firmly stuck in her Bapticostal (between Baptist & Pentecostal) ways. So my main challenge is being respectful to her beliefs while setting my boundries about my own. I’ll keep you updated as new developments occur.
Well that’s it for now. I’ll be back soon with a new post. Until then Sat Nam,

Why I wear a turban AKA The Turban Story

Sat Nam Everyone!
It’s me again Remember when I said yesterday that today I’d tell you the story about how I started wearing a turban? Well here it is:
A couple of years ago I started studying & practicing Kundalini Yoga & Meditation. 2 of the first books that I’ve read on the subject are The 8 Human Talents & Bountiful, Beautiful, & Blissful by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. On the covers I noticed that she was wearing a turban & I was impressed by it. Then I read in another book called The Kundalini Experience that wearing a turban could strengthen the bones in the skull. Well as someone who’s prone to having seizures my brain needs all the help it could get. So I started doing some research on it. Then I started asking questions about it. My main one was about would it get too hot with one on? Because getting overheated could cause a seizure. So I went to a website called sikhnet.com & posted questions on this topic to a forum on the Sikh lifestyle. I learned that wearing a turban can actually keep your head cool because of the sweat that’s released. Well that sold me on it so now I wear one just about all the time (except when I’m with my mom that would be a different story). As you can see on my picture to the right of the blog post that’s one of my formal turbans. Now I’ll put a picture of me with a more casual turban. I also wear bandannas as an alternative to a turban when needed. & the picture I uploaded yesterday was a “turbanized photo” from a site called turbanizer.com. So here’s a picture of my casual turban. Well that’s it for now. Tomorrow I’ll tell you more about the challenges of my spiritual path. I briefly mentioned my mom. I’ll fill you in more on it tomorrow. Until then Sat Nam,

My Spiritual Name

For all those who don’t yet know me allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dana Poulos (Morgan is my pen name). Well I’ve been practicing Kundalini yoga & Meditation off & on for the past few years. & while I’m actually a 7th Day Adventist, I’ve felt drawn to this type of yoga. I love the chanting & meditation & as far as the yoga asnas are concerned I have to modify some of them to meet my special needs.
Well a few months ago I was at 3HO’s website & saw something about requesting a spiritual name. So out of curiosity I went ahead & got one. I made a small donation for it & got it within a few days after that. My spiritual name is Amrita Kaur. Amrita means deathless. Well I think that God has a sense of humor when he allowed me to be assigned that name because to me death means REST GLORIOUS REST!! & Kaur is for female Sikhs meaning lioness. Well I feel like a mama cat protecting her baby! My cat Sunny will be 4 years old next Monday & he’s the only baby that I’ll be having. Well that’s it for now I hope this helps to clear up any confusion about me so far. Tomorrow I’ll tell you all how & why I started wearing turbans! Until then Sat Nam,

Why I wrote this Blog Post:

Throughout  my life I’ve always managed to be fairly active.  In spite of the fact that I’m legally blind, have balance problems, low blood sugar, & Oh yeah, did I mention that I had seizures & was heavily doped up on Dilantin & Phenobarbital?  Here’s how it all got started.

When I was about 9 or 10 my mom & I were staying with my adopted Aunt Jeanie & Uncle Clyde (now called Uncle Matt).  Well anyway, I’d be outside playing & I used to sit cross legged on an old gas lid & spin around on it.  It was sort of like that Sit & Spin toy that all the kids had.  Then Mom & I moved into a house that we shared with a lady named Lois & her daughter Janelle.  Well, anyway we had a neighbor who lived in back of us by the name of Mrs. Tilley.  Well, anyway I would stay with her both before & after school along with a few other kids.  Well she used to let us veg. out in front of the TV until one day her family doctor asked her “Are the kids that you’re babysitting outside playing?”

When she told him that we weren’t he said, “Well, they need to be.”  So the next day she had us all outside playing which was quite a shock to me.  As it turns out I hated it at first, but I grew to love it.

Some time after that when I was in the 4th grade I had a teacher named Mr. Bersette.  Now, when the rest of the class (mostly consisting of boys) were outside during recess playing athletic sports like soccer I would be by myself playing with my stuffed animals.  Until one day my teacher caught me hanging upside down across 2 parallel bars & swinging from them.  So the next day he told me that I didn’t need my stuffed animals anymore that what I was doing the previous day was considered to be athletic.  I was doing athletics & I didn’t even know it.  (It wasn’t until I took gymnastics later & saw it on the Olympics on TV that I understood what the heck he was talking about.

When I was 11 ½ my mom had a boyfriend named Alex.  He taught me a lot of different things.  But the one thing that I remember was on one summer night he took me through the warm-up exercises that I was having trouble with in PE.  (You know jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups & so on).  To this day I think that he had a meeting with my PE teacher & they talked.  But I’m glad that he did that.  Because I feel that it helped a lot.  Also about that same time I was taking Tap, Jazz, Ballet, & Gymnastics lessons with a teacher named Miss Glorfield.  This was while I was enrolled in an after school program at a daycare center called Kinder Care.  Also we’d sometimes play the game called Twister.  I swear that was my first introduction into yoga!
When I was 13 my next door neighbor named Cheryl was having a girl who was 18 & overweight start an exercise program which included jogging.  I asked her one day if I could try it just for the heck of it.  She said “don’t see why not”.  So I would do some of the warm-up exercises that I learned in PE & then I would jog laps around the complex.  At first I could

only do 3.  But as I grew more used to it, I found out that I could do more. And now as I’ve gotten older my jogging turned into walking.

Also at that same time I used to watch Richard Simmons.  Now mind you I wasn’t heavy, but I liked (& still do) his

personality & sense of humor.  Unfortunately he was on while I was in school.  So I would have to wait until the holidays or summer vacation to watch him since there were no VCRs at that time.  But when I could watch him & do the exercises with him I had fun.   The cool thing now is I have a neighbor named Flo who has a whole bunch of Richard Simmons videos & sometimes we’d get together & do them.

When I was 15, I used to watch the program Lilias, Yoga, & You after school & I would try some of the yoga postures just to see if I could do them.

I would say that I could do most of them.  Some had to be modified, & there was only a handful that I couldn’t do.  But bear in mind I was a lot younger & more limber at that time than I am now.

When I was 16 Mom married a man named John & we moved from Clearwater to Orlando & eventually we settled in & we had cable TV.  One of the channels on that was called Lifetime.  On it was a program called It Figures with Charlene Pricket.  She had Aerobics with toning programs that had disco music in the background which I thought was really cool since I grew up during that time period.  Shortly after that they brought back all of the old Richard Simmons programs to that station. & the cool thing was that Richard would be on at 6PM & Charlene would be on at 6:30PM.  So I didn’t have to miss them due to school.

So there you have it my exercise history in a nutshell.  & if a poor little blind girl who the doctors & teachers thought that I was mentally challenged could do it you can too!

Introduction: Why I wrote this Blog Post or This isn’t meant to tick anyone off!

Over the years, I’ve noticed and observed many disturbing things. Now I’m sure that some of you may have observed the same things. However, you have to understand, the reason that my observations will shock you is that they came from someone who’s legally blind and at one time my doctors and teachers thought that I was mentally challenged. Alternatively, as they would have called it back then “mentally retarded.” My observations are as follows:
For one thing I’ve noticed that everyone seems to be in a big hurry.

The ironic thing is that the majority of people can drive and are in their nice comfortable climate controlled vehicles, while people like me who either have to walk or take some form of public transportation have to play Russian roulette with the traffic just to get across the street. Now if anyone should be in a big hurry it should be people like us that either have to walk or depend on some form of public transportation and have to be out in the elements in order to do so.

2. Also I’ve noticed a lot of people

trying to do two or more things at once. (Myself included). This is OK if it doesn’t hurt you or anyone else. For example if you’re in the kitchen waiting for water to boil you might put the dishes away, prep food ect. This is one aspect of time management. However, what scares me and ticks me off at the same time is when people try to drive and do something else at the same time. So for heaven’s sake if you’re going to drive then drive. Don’t try to do that while brushing your teeth, eating, putting make-up on, or talking on your cell phone. (unless you have a hands free headset). In other words please be mindful of the road and those who are trying to cross it. If you absolutely must do these things that I’ve mentioned, then please pull over and do them. It’s not worth messing up someone else’s life and possibly your own. (Especially if you end up hurt, killed, or sued).

3. Another reason that our society is

going crazy is that we work ourselves to death. It seems that society expects us to keep going all year long. in addition, we’re really out of touch with Nature’s rhythms and the seasons. Is it any wonder that more people get sick with colds and the Flu during the Winter months? Let alone the fact that during the holidays we’re in a bigger hurry than usual, we don’t eat right or exercise. Let’s stop and think about this for a moment. It starts in October with the Halloween candy for mostly the kids. and Oh yeah, if you want to get real adults like it too. I happen to love dark chocolate, but I don’t allow myself to go crazy over it. Because I know if I do, I could end up with a blood sugar hangover. and it’s not worth it. Then we move on to November with Thanksgiving with the turkey with all of the trimmings. (for those who aren’t vegetarians). Then Christmas time comes around with the parties with all of the fattening food and all the booze you can stand. (For those who drink it). Then it’s Christmas dinner with the turkey, ham, or whatever meat is server and all of the trimmings once again. and then New Year’’ Eve rolls around with another party with the same stuff that I’ve previously mentioned. Then the ironic thing happens. The day after New Year’s the ads start popping out with what else. Diet stuff, exercise clothes and equipment and gym memberships. (I guess people need New Year’s Day in order to recover from their hangovers in order to think clearly enough so they can make their New Year’s resolutions!

4. The next thing I’ve noticed is that

the rate of overweight kids is increasing. Along with the health problems that used to be associated with adulthood. One of the problems is that the parents are in such a darn hurry that they just pick up whatever’s convenient from the store, a fast food joint, or whatever. This wouldn’t be so bad if it happened occasionally, but it seems to happen almost every night. and here we go again with the problem of parents being in too much of a big hurry to actually fix healthy meals for their kids. So they just grab what’s convenient whether it’s healthy. When I was little either my mom, Aunt Jeanie or Grandma Mary would fix healthy meals almost every night. If we went out to eat or ordered a pizza, it was a treat. I mostly spent time with my mom and Aunt Jeanie and Uncle Clyde while Mom was trying to save up so we could get our own place. Also, I spent a lot of weekends with my Great Grandma Mary when she was alive. and for the most part, she cooked healthy meals that were also tasty. Now my late Grandma Fran was also a good cook. But what she made wasn’t usually good for me. So I didn’t go over there very often. (More the other problem is that in Florida P.E. and recess has all but disappeared from the public schools. I suppose that this is due to the fact that so much emphasis is being placed on preparation for the FCAT test. However, I’ve recently found out that because of this problem PE is now being put back into the public schools. Also, kids don’t go out and play like they used to. They’re either doing homework, or are in front of the computer or TV. When I was little, I had both P.E. and recess. No if’s and’s but’s or maybes about it. If it rained, it took place in the gym. Also, I had a very wise babysitter by the name of Mrs. Tilly. At first she would let us kids sit in front of the tube before and after school. Until 1 day, her Dr. asked if us kids were outside playing. When she said “no” he insisted that, we needed to be outside playing in good weather. At first, I hated it. But I grew to enjoy it. When I went to Kinder Care, the same thing happened there too. Also, I had dance and gymnastics lessons. I couldn’t follow everything perfectly, but I gave it my best shot. I also grew up during the Disco period. and to this day, I still like to boogie. I do a lot of my boogying in church during the Praise and Worship time. Needless to say, it took a long time for the people at my church to get used to my boogeying. Because dance isn’t normally part of the seventh Day Adventist church. This is ashamed because dance can be a a very good form of Cardio Exercise and the seventh Day Adventists are supposed to be very health oriented. I hope to be able to turn this around by my example. But I’m afraid that it would take an act of God in order to make this happen.

These are just a few things that I’ve observed over the past several years. Now if a person who’s legally blind and was thought to be mentally challenged can observe these things, what’s wrong with this picture? But don’t worry. I’ll cover more ground as the book unfolds. My hope and prayer for this book is to enlighten you and not to tick you off. Take care, stay sane, and God Bless,

Dana Morgan 1/4/11

How to Manifest Extreme Money with Bob Proctor

In A Cabin In The Mountains

Hi it’s me again here with a new metation. So with that, let’s get started.
Make yourself comfortable and allow yourself to relax. Inhale and exhale deeply and slowly. Continue to breathe like this for a moment or two.
Visualize yourself in a cabin in the mountains. There’s a fire crackling in the fireplace. You’re snuggling under a warm comforter while sitting in a well-cushioned chair. See the fire as it dances in front of you. Hear the snapping, crackling, and popping sounds that the wood makes as it surrenders to the flame. Notice the warmth on your face as you wrap yourself up in your quilt.
The cabin is dark accept the areas close to the firelight. There are shadows on the walls and on the floor. Notice the warmth, the sounds, the dance of shadows, and the warmth of the flames. All of these things come together inside of you to make you calm, joyful, and peaceful. Enjoy these good feelings.
You look out the window and you see the snow on the ground. In addition, the full moon washes the scenery with its pale light. The difference between the coolness of the snow and the warmth of the cabin is very inviting. As you look out the window, it starts snowing again. Gently and calmly you take off your comforter, stand up and stretch. You can feel the cool calmness just beyond the circle of warmth made by the fire. Calmly you more toward the door, open it and step outdoors.
The cold air is invigorating and wakes you up. You welcome the cold contrast. Notice how one delicate snowflake lands on the back of your hand. Pay attention to its beauty and serenity. It looks like a tiny ice sculpture that was made just for you. So tiny and fragile. It’s hard to believe that the earth is covered with so many of these tiny ice sculptures.
You stand quietly and observe the snowflake. There’s nothing that you have to do or anywhere that you have to be right now. You watch the snowflake. Your hand’s warmth reaches through the snowflake and it starts melting. However, just as that one goes away, another one lands on the same place. It’s so similar to the other one, but so different.
Observe the snow while it softly falls. It caresses your eyelashes and lands on your face. The snow falls to the ground in its own way and at its own pace. There’s no need to hurry no need to rush. It’s as if every flake is enjoying the trip.
Just as the snowfalls at its own pace and in its own way, your body will heal itself at its own pace and in its own way. As you watch the snowfall you think to yourself, “My body’s own healing energy will take over in due time without any planning or effort on my part. There isn’t anything that I have to do but to just let it happen.”
Come back inside of the cabin, wrap yourself in your quilt, close your eyes and relax.
Take another deep cleansing breath and exhale slowly. Keep your eyes closed and notice your surroundings. Breathe in and out. You feel totally refreshed and rested by your trip to the cabin. When you feel ready, take one more deep cleansing breath, count to five slowly, stretch yourself out a bit, and slowly open your eyes.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed this meditation as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing it to you. I’ll be back in a cuple of days with a new one until then ~Nameste~,
Dana
